Autel Evo
Were you able to make it to the CES in Las Vegas this year? If not, you missed out on viewing some pretty cool gadgets that are set to come out. While I love everything to do with technology, my favorite section is always the drone area. There were many cool drones being announced this year, like the DJI Tello, UVify Oori and the Yuneec Firebird FPV. However, today, I am here to talk about the Autel Evo, which is something I believe you’re going to want to pay attention to, especially if you enjoyed the DJI Mavic Pro.

About the Autel Evo
The Autel Evo is a foldable, portable drone that is similar in appearance to the Mavic Pro and I honestly believe that this drone right here may have the Mavic Pro fearing for its spot.

Battery Life
The EVO has a battery life of up to 30 minutes on a single charge, which is decent, because many of the drones I have dealt with offer a battery life of around 6 minutes. The recharge on this drone will take a little over an hour, which is also pretty good.

Speeds
The Autel Evo is capable of reaching speeds of up to 65 feet per second, while the drone itself is capable of remaining in range from the pilot for about 4.2 miles.

Intelligent Flight Modes
The drone has some pretty useful flight modes, including GPS and object tracking. It also offers the ability to be able to preset waypoint mission coordinates and flight patterns that are designed for 3D mapping tasks.

4K
I understand that 4K is common, so that is to be expected, but it can capture a higher-resolution of video at 60 frames per second, which isn’t as common. The camera has been mounted on a three-axis gimbal, which means you will be able to make steadier shots. The camera utilized computer vision so that the unmanned vehicle can stray away from obstacles. The infrared sensor that is built onto it adds even more crash-prevention technology.

Battery Life
The Autel Evo offers a total of 30 minutes worth of flight time on one charge. However, as usual, if you wish to have even more flight time, you could always bring along an extra battery pack.

Operating Distance
This drone offers an operating distance of 4.2 miles, which is really good for a drone.

Controlling the Drone
This drone can be controlled with the Autel Explorer App, which is available on both Android and iOS. If you don’t want to use the app, you can use a controller – the controller has a nice 3.3 inch OLED screen. The screen uses 720p resolution in order to show the drones viewpoint.

Conclusion
In my opinion, the EVO is a close competitor to the Mavic Pro as it offers another nice compact option. Looking at the specs, the Mavic Pro has similar specs, but the frame rate is faster and the battery life is a little bit longer. At the time of writing this review on the Autel Evo, there hasn’t been a launch date yet, but it is set to come out some time in 2018, and will be around $1,000, which in my opinion, the drone is well worth the price due to all of the nice features. So, if you’re looking for a nice drone that is capable of suiting your needs, I highly recommend waiting around for this one to come out, because I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this one.
